Your foundation for this occupation
Heating training is a foundation; also check recognition for fuel, task and region. Flanders has separate recognition for gaseous and liquid fuels. Ask what pathways and appliances the employer supports. Manufacturer training does not replace applicable recognition.
From preparation to your first day
Develop the practical skills
Prepare appliance data, service history and the user's complaint. Practise measurements and diagnosis under supervision using technical documents. Separate observed fault from suspected cause. Stay within training and authority and refer uncertainty.
Check your work
Check prescribed results and complete the report. Explain work and follow-up clearly. Restarting an appliance is not proof of complete inspection. Reliable measurements and records belong together.
How can you grow?
Specialise in appliances, fault service or larger systems. Compare planned maintenance with urgent calls and standby. Ask about refresher training, instruments and field support. List actual recognition separately from brand experience.
Frequently asked questions
Does gas experience qualify me for oil heating?
Not automatically. Fuel, equipment and requirements differ. Check the appropriate recognition and training. One fuel or brand does not confer general authority.
