What will you do?
You prepare the equipment and material and work according to the strict safety and security rules of the airport. The job is also known as baggage handler, ramp handler or cargo handler. You check security in the aircraft zones, sort goods and transport them internally to the right place.

Your foundation for this occupation
The handler trains you for your assigned zone and duties. Ask whether work is in the baggage hall, cargo warehouse or at the aircraft. Learn flight and tag data, reporting and equipment identification. Restricted-area access and vehicle operation are arranged separately; warehouse experience does not replace authorisation.
From preparation to your first day
Develop the practical skills
Practise sorting by flight and destination, including changes and transfers. Align scans with physical movements so records match location. Follow assigned loading instructions rather than improvising order or position to save time.
Check your work
Check tags and report damaged, unclear or unusual items through procedure. Keep loose material out of work areas and report missing baggage promptly. Special cargo may require separate instructions; ask about training before handling it.
How can you grow?
Progress to further equipment qualifications, team coordination or other handling roles. Discuss early and late shifts, outdoor exposure, physical work and airport transport outside public-transit hours. Accuracy and willingness to report uncertainty both matter.
