What will you do?
You check the security of the zones around the aircraft, prepare equipment and materials, and supervise the safety devices and the fuel supply. Everything happens according to the strict safety and security regulations of the airport. The role is also known as ramp supervisor, ramp handler or team leader of aircraft assistants.

Your foundation for this occupation
This role builds on ground-handling knowledge and operator procedures. Ask which processes you coordinate and whether load control is separate. Learn allocation, reporting and handover between handler and crew. A supervisory title does not authorise every calculation or operation.

Develop the practical skills
Practise a turnaround plan showing tasks and dependencies. Track changes and reconcile loading information with execution through prescribed communication. State actual delay causes and outstanding actions. Confirm ambiguous messages before others rely on them.
Check your work
Monitor progress and deviations without silently signing off others' checks. Record who performed work and what information was passed. Report incidents and near misses through procedure. An interview example of correcting a mistaken assumption under pressure is useful.

Progress towards broader ramp coordination, training or operations planning. Ask about aircraft types, airlines and concurrent teams. Discuss irregular hours and arrangements for authority and cover. Clear communication matters more than promising every departure will be punctual.
