What will you do?
Working as a rope access technician or industrial rope worker, you set up the worksite, check the conformity of the intervention equipment, and work at height using rope techniques. You keep work records and always work safely and with care for the environment. This is a physically demanding, hands-on trade for people who are comfortable at height and take safety seriously, often supporting maintenance, repair, and installation work on buildings and structures.

Your foundation for this occupation
Choose training for access method and actual trade. Ropes, platforms and scaffolds are not interchangeable qualifications. Method follows the task and risk assessment. Ask about practice, rescue organisation and supervision; leisure climbing does not replace these.
From preparation to your first day
Develop the practical skills
Practise equipment checks and communication in training. Understand zones and roles. Also master the task, such as inspection or maintenance. Reaching a location does not qualify you for every job there.
Check your work
Check assigned equipment and records and report issues. Discuss changed conditions before continuing. Keep findings clear. Rescue and support arrangements must be established beforehand.
How can you grow?
Specialise technically or progress within the qualification structure. Ask about travel, team, duration and refreshers. List access qualifications separately from trade experience.
