What will you do?
You assemble, dismantle, replace and relocate steel structures such as tower cranes, masts, pylons and wind turbines. You set up the site, often work at great height and follow the safety rules to the letter. The trade is also known as crane erector or industrial mover.

Your foundation for this occupation
Rigger training covers lifting equipment, communication and the assigned role in moving loads. Industry and events do not always use the title identically. Ask about loads, installations and heights. Height work and specific structural assembly need additional training.
From preparation to your first day
Develop the practical skills
Practise identifying and assessing equipment through procedures, without independently designing a lift plan. Communicate clearly with operator and crew. Agree who signals and who checks before work. Practical exercises require supervision and suitable equipment.
Check your work
Check identification and assigned use conditions. Report doubt or damage and follow the process for unavailable equipment. Keep assignment changes visible to the team. An example of clarifying an ambiguous instruction is useful at interview.
How can you grow?
Specialise in machinery moves, structures or specific installations. Lift planning needs further expertise and is not automatically the same as attaching loads. Discuss travel, physical work, heights and project length.

Does every rigger create the lift plan?
No. Planning and execution may belong to different people. Follow the approved plan and assigned role. Responsibility for calculations, selection and changes must be clear beforehand.
