Your foundation for this occupation

A printing assistant supports the press team with materials, monitoring and agreed checks. Training can often take place at work. Establish independent tasks and those retained by the printer. Learn to protect substrate identity, job identification and separation of accepted and rejected output.

From preparation to your first day

  1. Develop the practical skills

Observe material preparation and a production run. Check the order, identify stock correctly and follow the team's release process. Practise simple checks with approved examples. Report uncertainty rather than changing press settings beyond your training and authority.

  2. Check your work

Keep quantities and batches clear and prevent damage during stacking and removal. Compare defects with agreed acceptance examples. Report when an issue first appeared and which stack is affected, helping the printer trace the relevant production.

How can you grow?

Progression to operator or printer requires setup, process knowledge and quality assessment. Preparing a repeat order under supervision is a practical step. Reliable material handling and clear communication provide the foundation for added responsibility.
