What will you do?
In Dutch the trade is also known as buitenschrijnwerker, plaatser van ramen en deuren or plaatser van rolluiken. You work on construction sites or in private homes and stick to the work order and the safety rules. You set up the site, prepare the work and install the joinery.

Your foundation for this occupation
External joinery installation requires measuring, careful fitting and understanding the junction with the building. Joinery or window-and-door installation training provides a foundation. Ask about profile systems and renovation work, where existing openings often require different preparation from new construction.

Develop the practical skills
Follow an item from ordered dimensions to fitting and adjustment. Check identity, opening direction and opening condition before removal or installation. Learn system-specific fixings and junctions under supervision. Discuss dimensional or substrate deviations before irreversible alteration.
Check your work
Check operation, closing, appearance and the agreed junction. Moving parts must run freely and connections must be complete, not merely level. Record damage or missing items at handover and explain ordinary operation and maintenance to the occupant.
How can you grow?
Specialisations include renovation, sliding systems, large glazed units and team leadership. Complex work adds transport, installation planning and coordination. Reliable progression rests on consistently complete installations and clear handovers.

Is sealing just applying foam around a frame?
No. The junction must suit the system, substrate and required performance. Different layers or products can perform different functions. Learn the specified detail rather than judging only the visible joint; a neat surface does not prove the whole connection is correct.
