Your foundation for this occupation
Site clerks keep records aligned with actual construction work. Basic construction knowledge helps interpret deliveries, drawings and progress. Accurate recording and asking clarifying questions matter. Establish decisions owned by site management, purchasing and accounts versus your own tasks.
From preparation to your first day
Develop the practical skills
Practise a delivery from order to record. Compare purchase order, delivery note and receipt, recording exceptions against the correct site. Distinguish drawing and agreement versions. Revised drawings must be clearly identifiable to prevent continued use of outdated instructions.
Check your work
Check hours, deliveries and required certificates for completeness before forwarding. Resolve missing or contradictory details instead of inventing quantities or amounts. Store decisions and changes consistently so invoicing and handover use the same file.
How can you grow?
Progression includes project administration, purchasing support or site coordination with additional technical knowledge. Describe an order-delivery discrepancy you identified and the document or planning systems you have used.
