As a train conductor you inform customers, safeguard the punctuality of trains and look after the safety of passengers. In this role, also known as a ticket inspector or on-board conductor, you check and sell tickets, keep the atmosphere calm on and around the train and assist people with a disability. You step in during conflicts, take emergency measures when an incident occurs and follow up your activities. The work belongs to the transport and logistics sector as public-transport attending staff, and it is customer-facing service that keeps passengers moving safely and on time across Vlaanderen.

Indicative Belgian pay range: €2,800–€4,200 gross per month for full-time employment. Evening, weekend and irregular shifts often come with extra premiums. Employee pay estimate; actual pay depends on experience, sector pay scales and working hours. Premiums, overtime and benefits are separate.
