As an alterations tailor, you repair and alter clothing, by machine or by hand. You work with different materials, from fine fabrics to leather. The job is also known as retoucher, clothing repairer or fitter-alterations tailor. You agree the work with the customer, check the fit and the measurements of the garment and select the right materials and accessories. You then assemble the parts of a garment, attach haberdashery items and finish everything on time and with high quality. You also maintain your own machines. In Flanders you work for example in an alterations shop, a clothing store or your own studio.
