What will you do?
Whether you are called a security technician, an alarm systems technician or a video surveillance technician, the core of the job is the same. You draw up electrical diagrams, prepare the work on site, run cables for the various circuits and mount low voltage and extra low voltage equipment. You keep the site tidy and always follow the safety rules.

Develop the practical skills
Translate an approved plan into a tidy installation with labelled cables and updated diagrams. Practise checking notifications and user handover in a training setup. Agree who may change settings and how credentials are managed. Follow the test protocol and communicate beforehand when tests may notify other parties.
Check your work
Confirm delivered functions against the assignment and record results. Document changes without unnecessarily spreading confidential data. Users need to understand ordinary operation and whom to contact for faults. Diagnose systematically without silently changing agreed security arrangements.
