What will you do?
You assemble electrical or electromechanical devices partially or completely, using hand tools or semi-automatic machines. You select the right components, prepare the wires, place them on the carriers, make the electrical connections and check and adjust the wiring. Colleagues also know this job as panel builder, wirer or electrical fitter in machine building.

Your foundation for this occupation
Translate electrical diagrams into an organised panel layout. Component placement, wire identification and access determine maintainability. For work involving electrical risks, the employer determines BA4 or BA5 authorisation for the tasks and installations concerned, considering knowledge, experience and instructions. Completing a course does not automatically grant that authorisation. Ask which site and safety training applies to your assignment.

Build a de-energised training panel with mounting plate, ducts and components to drawings. Practise wiring and identification under supervision.

Check component codes, connections and documentation before prescribed testing. Have deviations assessed before panel release.
