How much does a Cleaner earn in Belgium?

As a cleaner you usually earn between 13 and 16 euros gross per hour, depending on your experience and the environment you clean in. Early, late or night hours and weekend work often come with allowances. If you grow into specialised cleaning, such as sensitive or care environments, you generally earn a bit more.

In which environments do you work as a cleaner?

You work in the industrial cleaning sector, usually through a cleaning company. That can be in offices, schools, hospitals and care institutions, but also in industrial spaces, cinemas or childcare centres. Some cleaners have a fixed workplace, others work as mobile cleaners across several locations.

What is the difference between a cleaner and a cleaning worker in the service sector?

In practice both largely do the same work: professional cleaning according to a work plan. Cleaner is the broad job title for anyone who cleans rooms and buildings. A cleaning worker in the service sector emphasises that you are employed by a service company and clean on location at client sites.

Is there a lot of demand for cleaners in Flanders?

Yes, cleaning companies across Flanders are constantly looking for new colleagues, from the big cities to smaller municipalities. Offices, schools and care institutions need to be clean every day, which makes the work very stable. Even if you want to work part-time or during specific hours, you usually find a job quickly.
